About the dance

What is Cuban salsa?

Cuban salsa, or Casino, comes from Cuba and has roots in Cuban son. The dance is a combination of moves, improvisation and solo dancing with a partner, and the partners circle around each other. Casino is the foundation of rueda de casino, where you dance in a circle and switch partners on cue.

Casino is danced all over the world. You can use what you learn in class at social dance nights in most larger cities, whether you are travelling or moving somewhere new.

With us, the dance is as much about community as about steps. It is a dance you learn best together with others, with plenty of room to get it wrong along the way.

  • Leading: giving clear, calm signals
