Practical guide
House rules
A few simple ground rules that help everyone feel comfortable on the dance floor. Nothing complicated, just basic courtesy and consideration.
Arrive on time
Come a few minutes before class starts, so we can warm up together and ease into it without a rush.
Shoes and clothing
Wear indoor shoes that sit securely on your foot, with a smooth, light-coloured sole. Wear clothes you can move freely in.
Hygiene and consideration
- Come in clean clothes and with good hygiene. We dance close.
- If you have a cold or are unwell, stay home this time and come back next week.
- Deodorant is welcome, but skip strong perfume.
- Take off rings, watches and bracelets that could scratch or catch.
- Bring a water bottle, and a spare T-shirt too if you sweat a lot.
Partner rotation
We rotate partners regularly throughout the class. That way everyone gets to dance with more people, and those who come on their own never have to sit out. Switch with a smile, and look after each other.
Respect and safety
Contigo should be a safe place for everyone. Respect each other’s boundaries, and tell an instructor if something does not feel right. Everyone should be able to dance without worrying.
Phone, photos and video
Keep your phone on silent and put it away, so it is easier to be present. Do not film during class itself, since many people want to dance in peace. At the end the instructors show the day’s combination, and then you are welcome to film it so you can take it home with you.
Now and then we at Contigo take photos and video for the website and social media. You can read more in our privacy policy.
